The Wedding/Civil Union Ceremony Planning Process
First Meeting
We will begin with a face to face meeting to get to know each other. This will take around 60 minutes at a location suitable to you e.g. a local cafe or your home.
You will receive detail regarding the arrangements, and you will also be provided access to resources that will help with the planning of your ceremony. There will also be discussion around the legal requirements.
You will need to complete an Application for Notice of Intended Marriage (click here to download http://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/wpg_URL/Services-Births-Deaths-and-Marriages-Forms-Fees-and-Information-Brochures?OpenDocument#two).
Formal Interview
This will be followed at a later date by a formal interview (60-90 minutes) so that I can hear your story, your plans for the future and your hopes and dreams. I will want to hear your ideas for your big day, your wish list and any challenges e.g. family dynamics, blended families etc. We will prepare an outline of your ceremony together, sharing ideas and resources.
It will include the following;
* Your documentation will be verified
* We will plan the detail of your ceremony
* We will compose your service with readings, poems, music and your own special vows.
Your love and values, along with your hopes and dreams, will all be combined with the story of your
relationship, to provide an experience that is truly yours.
Your wedding ceremony can be as formal, informal, traditional or adventurous as you choose.
You may for example decide to;
* light candles
* exchange gifts
* release balloons
* choose to get married on the beach, in the bush or your family home.
Draft Wedding/Civil Union Ceremony
I will then create a draft ceremony, weaving your story, your ideas and wishes together, from what you have shared with me. This will be emailed to you for your review and comment.
Meeting to Review the Draft Ceremony
This will take 30 - 60 minutes during which time we will review the draft ceremony and make any changes that you require. If you are not yet in Nelson, or more convenient, we can email each other or phone to discuss any alterations you would like.
Rehearsal
Ideally, at least one week prior to your special day, we will meet and I encourage a rehearsal at your venue at least two days prior to ensure there are no surprises and that your day flows beautifully.This is our opportunity together to fine tune your ceremony to ensure your special day is enjoyed and memorable to you and your guests.
Wedding/Civil Union Day
Following our preparation and articulate planning, your day will be the happiest day of your life, memorable to your guests and a day to remember.
I will also be available to liaise with the other parties involved in the ceremony, greet the guests, and meet the bridal party on their arrival.
I will only ever deliver one wedding ceremony on any given day. This is your day and you have my total commitment
